Hanging Church Egypt ,Ben Ezra Synagogue

Saint Virgin Mary's Coptic Orthodox Church also known as the Hanging Church (El Muallaqa) is one of the oldest churches in Egypt and the history of a church on this site dates to the 3rd century AD.[2]

The Hanging (The Suspended) Church is named for its location above a gatehouse of Babylon Fortress, the Roman fortress in Coptic Cairo (Old Cairo); its nave is suspended over a passage.

The church is approached by twenty-nine steps; early travelers to Cairo dubbed it "the Staircase Church."[3]The land surface has risen by some six metres since the Roman period[why?] so that the Roman tower is mostly buried below ground, reducing the visual impact of the church's elevated position.

The Ben Ezra Synagogue (Hebrewבית כנסת בן עזרא‎, Arabicمعبد بن عزرا‎), sometimes referred to as the El-Geniza Synagogue (Hebrewבית כנסת אל גניזה‎) or the Synagogue of the Palestinians,[1] is situated in Old CairoEgypt. According to local tradition, it is located on the site where baby Moses was found.[2] The land for the synagogue was purchased in 882 CE for 20,000 dinars by Abraham ibn Ezra of Jerusalem.

Saints Sergius and Bacchus Church, also known as Abu Serga, inCoptic Cairo is one of the oldest Coptic churches in Egypt, dating back to the 4th century.

Saints Sergius and Bacchus Church is traditionally believed to have been built on the spot where the Holy Family, Joseph, Mary and the infant Jesus Christ, rested at the end of their journey into Egypt. They may have lived here while Joseph worked at the fortress

St. George's Church

St. George is the only round church in Egypt, but unlike the original Church of the Holy Sepulchre and its many imitators (such as Rome's Santa Stefano Rotondo and London's Temple Church), this is only for practical reasons - it is built atop the foundations of a Roman round tower.

This Coptic Deir (church) is one of the places where the Holy Family stayed during their "flight to Egypt",  Mary and Joseph stayed in several places in and outside Cairo and lots of churches were built on those places. Virgin Mary Church is in the shore of the Nile, Corniche El Nil, in the way to Maadi, about 12 Km from Ramses Square.
